The Watchman

Hello everyone!  As always I want to thank all of my faithful readers for stopping by once again.  I also encourage you to pass the word along to others about this site.  I believe that God will do great things here and in the lives of those who are touched through these posts.  As always the ultimate goal here is to introduce people to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to pass along the Good News that Salvation is for all.  I would love to see everyone come to Jesus and develop a personal relationship with Him!  After all He did die for your sins, my sins, and the sins of the world.  Let’s got to God in prayer :

Most gracious Heavenly Father-

I come to you tonight with praise and thanksgiving on my heart and in my mind.  As we enter into this post tonight I would like to just thank you for all that you have done for all of us.  You sent Jesus to suffer and die for the sins of the world.  For my sins you died.  Thank you for including a sinner like me in your will.  You have given me a new life.  I ask that you would continue to lead, guide, and strengthen me through this ministry, and in every decision that I have to make.  You are my God! You created me, and you said that you will never leave me or forsake me.  You are so majestic full of wonder and power.  You know and see all things, and on top of all that you love us with a love that is beyond all comprehension.  You have reserved a place in Heaven for all those who believe in you and follow your laws.  Although we are sinners and fall short daily you forgive us of our sins.  This is not a green light to sin, but a chance to turn from our wicked ways and follow your will for our lives.  As you said to the women at the well when she was caught in adultery.  ” Where are your accusers?” Has no one condemned you?  Neither do I, go and sin no more.  Thank You my Lord for not condemning us!  Help us to turn from our sins and to run to you!   I ask all this in Jesus’ holy name——AMEN!!

Tonight’s post comes from the book of Ezekiel in the old testament.  Ezekiel 3:6-21 —  At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me.  “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word that I speak and give them warning from me.  When I say to a wicked person,” You will surely die,” and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.  But if you do warn that wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you have saved yourself.

Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die.  Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin.  The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.  But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.

A watchman’s job was to stand on the city wall and alert the people of coming danger.  Ezekiel’s job was the same, although he was a spiritual watchman, warning the people of God’s judgment to come.  As believers we have the same job as Ezekiel.  We are spiritual watchman as well.  It is our responsibility to tell all who will listen about the Good News of God’s free gift of salvation, and of his pending judgment as well. (Romans 6:23) says,” The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ our Lord. ”  When we share our faith in Jesus with others, and tell them our testimony.  If they turn from their wicked ways, repent of their sins, and ask Jesus to be Lord of their lives.  You have led them to the one who will save their life.  On the other hand if we see that they are trapped in their sin, and do or say nothing we are guilty of sin.  God gives us a voice we should use it.  We should take a stand against sin, and expose it for what it is.  It is nothing but death and lies!

Just as it says in the text we are not responsible for others decisions.  We are to equip them with the truth that we know in a loving, nonjudgmental manor.  How they respond is part of their free will.  If they continue to live in their sin they will die.  This is an eternal decision that most people don’t even realize that they are making.  Most people are concerned with the here and now, and not concerned with their eternal life.  I am concerned with their eternal lives!  Wouldn’t it be great if everyone would turn from their sins and run to Jesus!  The devil would be put out of business.  He would have no influence on anyone anymore.  This is not out of our sites.  It comes down to a few questions.  How big is your God?  Can God work a miracle in the lives of those around you?  Can God use you to touch the lives of those around you?  Yes he can, and yes he will.  Come to him in prayer, and ask that he would create an avenue for you to do his will.  Ask Him to place people in your life that need to hear the Good News, and be willing to do whatever he wants you to do!

Remember we are all put here to glorify God with all that we think, say, and do.  It should be in our nature to show compassion to those who are lost.  Let us all be Jesus’ advocate both in word and in deed!
