Hello everyone! Happy Easter to all, or should I say, “Happy Resurrection Sunday” No matter how we say it there is one truth that will never be taken away, and that is the truth of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead! All praise and glory goes to Jesus Christ. This post is dedicated to my Lord and Savior!
Close to 2000 years ago on Friday Jesus went to the cross and willingly died a horrible death for our sins. All the sins that we ever committed, will commit, or are committing now were wiped away in one selfless act of unconditional love. God had a perfect plan for sin, and that plan involved His one and only son. He gave His son as a ransom for all. By Jesus’ shed blood on the cross we were set free from the bondage of sin and death. Although we still sin, it will never be counted against us. God remembers our sin’s no more. We should never take this gift of salvation lightly. Jesus paid the full price for our transgressions.
When Jesus uttered the words “It is finished” that is exactly what he meant. His mission to conquer sin and lay down his life for us was complete. What that must have been like. Knowing that those who received Him into Jerusalem would be the same people who would yell “Crucify Him” a week later. Being publicly humiliated, flogged and beaten within inches of death. Knowing everyone would abandon Him he still chose to follow God’s will. This would be the most horrific form of death one could take on. Jesus took it on willingly. Those three words “It is Finished” are the ending to sin hold on our lives and death, and are the beginning of life for you and for me.
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from Heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ Now I have told you.
Praise God!! Jesus is alive!!
By accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are accepting the fact that Jesus is a real person, and that he is alive and well today. That he is God, Son, and Holy Spirit all at the same time. We are accepting that he died personally for you and paid our sin debt in full! We are accepting His commands and follow His example of living. Do you know anyone who would willingly die for you? Do you believe that Jesus Loves You? Jesus loves us with a love that can only be understood by someone who is truly without sin. We can come close to understanding, we can love and care for each other, but not with a perfect love.
By accepting His death we also accept His resurrection! If we truly want to follow Jesus our old way of life has to die. The hatred, anger, malice, discord, selfishness, greed, envy, sexual immorality, and dishonesty must die as well. We begin to take on a new life. One centered around peace, love, hope, faith, gratitude, and thankfulness. Today is a brand new day! It is a beginning! Don’t allow yourself to be chained to your old way of living. You are no longer in bondage! Jesus has set you free!! Praise to you My Father! He has blotted our sins out, and remembers them no more, but remember we will all give an accounting for all that we have done here. Jesus, King of Kings, will ask us what we did with this life that he has given us. Every word and action will be accounted for. How will you answer?
If you haven’t accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life yet go to the page “It’s Your Decision” there I will lead you through a prayer of accepting Jesus as Lord!!
Praise and Glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! He is risen! The tomb is empty!
