Hello to all who stopped by today! I really appreciate all of you who took the time to stop by again. I have the feeling that you will be blessed through this new post. As always my prayer for you is to come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and to develop a personal relationship with him. To lean on Him, to walk with Him, to trust Him. Since we have reached the half way point in the study of the Ten Commandments I thought it would be OK to take a break for a day and dedicate this post to Jesus! Jesus deserves all my praise and thanksgiving!! This post is dedicated to my Lord and Savior!
My wife and I have been invited to share our story to a group of recovering alcoholics. As I was setting here earlier writing my story I was reliving my life. Just as if it were yesterday. I made some real bad decisions, and some good ones. When I was drinking/drugging there wasn’t a place for Jesus in my life. I am so ashamed to say that, but that was the way it was back then. Alcohol/drugs were my God for a very long time. What really hurt was, throughout all the turmoil, that I willfully turned my back on the Man who died for my sins!
Jesus never left me. He was faithful, and still is. All glory and honor goes to Jesus! It was right when the movie Passion of the Christ came out. My wife and I went and saw it in the theatre. The Holy Spirit convicted me as Jesus was getting flogged. It was because of my sins that he was getting beaten half to death. It was because of my sins that the nails were driven into His wrists. It was because of my sins that he was spat upon and ridiculed. That was when I finally realized the gravity of what I had done. I yelled out in the theatre, “Leave him alone!” With tears running down my face it finally clicked for me. I finally understood.
I knew ever since I was a boy that Jesus died for my sins, but for the first time I felt it. In that one act of unconditional love giving up his life so that we may have eternal life with him. The man Jesus that knew no sin became sin and died a horrible death for me. Let me tell you something my friend. When the reality of that hits you it is like a freight train. I know who I was! I know who I am because of his free gift of salvation!! My old life had to die. I don’t ever want to go back there. The new life I found in Jesus is so wonderful that I cant even put words to it!
Peace, Love, Joy, Contentment took the place of Anger, Jealousy, Fear, and Bitterness! You see the devil wanted to keep me in that sin pattern, and definitely away from God! He succeeded for many years, but he has no place in my life now. Jesus has won. He conquered death on the cross at Calvary! He has shone me victory over alcohol/drugs. He has restored a broken relationship with my mother. He has restored the trust that I had lost to my wife and kids.
Wherever you are in life. Whether you are in active addiction or on your deathbed it is never too late to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is there waiting for you . He stands at the door of your life waiting and wanting to be a part of it. All you have to do is let Him in. Even if you think you cant be forgiven rest assured you can be. You may be like me. I couldn’t forgive myself for some of the wrongs I had done, but Jesus did! Was I bigger than God? No! If he could forgive me then I could forgive myself. I finally accepted that, and I am glad that I did. So what are you waiting for? Are you ready to ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life?
If you are ready then pray with me. This is known as a version of the sinners prayer:
I have come to my wits end, and I am tired of trying to figure it out on my own. I have sinned against you on many occasions my Lord, but most of all I am deeply sorry that I hurt you. I now realize that you died for my sins and that by accepting your free gift of salvation I may have eternal life with you in Heaven. Jesus please forgive me for all the wrong that I have done. I am ready to turn away from my sins and turn to you. I want to have a personal relationship with you making you the Lord of my Life!! Thank You my Father for your forgiveness of my sins.
If you prayed that prayer with me and meant every word of it then the Holy Spirit will come to live in you. Congratulations! If you believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, died for your sins, and has risen from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10 : 9-13 says- If you declare with your mouth, ” Jesus is Lord ” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ” Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call upon him, for, ” Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Now the next thing to do is start attending a bible based church. Let them know about your new commitment to Jesus!! Start reading Scripture regularly and praying to God all the time. This is how you will get to know Him.
Feel free to comment about your new life transformation somewhere on this site. I will respond as soon as possible, and once again congratulations!! I will be looking forward to seeing you right back here!
